Prepare Early
Prepare Early One of the Best ways to improve your game straight away is to really concentrate on preparing early for your next shot. If you prepare early, two things usually happen. First you will usually hit a crisper, cleaner shot, and second – you may take your shot a little earlier than normal. This will put that little bit more pressure on your opponent. To prepare early, you have to do a few things. You need to focus on the ball and your opponent, and get as far forward as you can, depending on the quality of your previous shot. You also want to get in a crouched position on the ‘T’, with your weight slightly forward, ready to ‘pounce’ and you need to have your racket out in front of you, with the head up at chest height. In this position you are ready to take the ball early, on either side. As soon as you know which side the ball has been hit to, you want to get your racket back, and your racket hand up by your left or right ear (eg: backhand or forehand shot). Then you are ready to put extra pressure on your opponent by taking that ball just a little bit earlier. A little bit extra pressure can convert to a lot of points, and can easily be the difference between winning and losing. Happy squashing Rob.
