Developing Different Styles Of Game
Developing Different Styles Of Game It is of great advantage to be able to play different styles of game. This is useful so that when you are playing a player who likes to play a certain way, and you may struggle with his game normally, you can then change the game to even things up. Also, you can vary a game, or parts of a game, or parts of a rally, with various sorts of game, providing you have the skills to do it. Some players really struggle with somebody who mainly smacks the ball straight and hard. Length is the basis of every game as we all know, and you can win matches with nothing much else. It is the way to play against deceptive players, because it doesn’t open the court up to them. With left handers, for some reason they never seem as strong on their backhand, so try playing on that side of the court more often. With really fit players with a good straight hard game, try varying the pace, and using deception. Hitting the ball late, and holding your shots is a good way to try and knock them out of their rhythm. Some players don’t like the ball coming to them with not much pace. So ¾ pace, or ½ pace length shots can really muck some peoples timing up. With older players you really want to try and take them to the front, and twist them across court. Show no respect for their elderly joints and diminishing flexibility and speed. Except when you are playing me – then you need full respect! Cheers Rob
