Get that Racket UP!!
Get that Racket UP!! Something we’re all guilty of at some time during our playing careers (or even every game, for most of us), is being lazy with the racket – I know I am & I have to really concentrate during my game to make sure I’m not dropping my racket head between shots. By dropping your racket, you’re leaving yourself wide open to failure!! Volley opportunities will literally pass you by. By the time your brain has registered the fact that the ball is perfectly placed to cut off & volley drop into the corner, it’s already got past you & into the back of the court, or you take a belated swipe at it & stuff it up completely! Whenever you’re on the T you should be ready for the next shot, & as soon as you leave the T to retrieve the ball, you should be getting your racket up to the top of the back swing, ready to play the ball as early as possible. Preparation is the most important aspect of the game, without it you are surely doomed to a life of scrambling your way out of the back of the court!! Happy Squashing - Dawn
