Vary The Pace

Vary The Pace Varying the pace is a great way to break your opponent's game up. Most people like the ball coming at them with a bit of pace on it. That way they don’t have to generate speed on the ball when they hit it. Especially on a volley short, it is hard to take it short unless it has some pace on it. Try varying speeds on your length shots at times to see if it puts your opponent off. Also, if you have had a particularly hard rally or two, it is a good way to get your breath back, by tossing a few slow lengths down the wall. Another good shot is a three quarter pace cross court length shot with plenty of height on it. The right angle will mean that it can't be volleyed, and is difficult to dig out of the back, because of the lack of pace. Cheers Rob
