Prevention of injury.

Prevention of injury. Nothing is more frustrating than an injury happening while training for some event you have been working towards. There are usually warning signs before an injury is about to happen that if your aware of you can hopefully recognize and prevent the injury from happening. One of these warning signs is tightness in the muscle during training. For example if running on the treadmill and the calf muscle feels tight or almost like it wants to go into cramp that’s the feeling I’m talking about. Usually this is the first sign that you will notice. At this stage I recommend one of three things to help prevent an injury. Get a massage or two on that muscle. Massage is a really good way to help the muscle heal and recover properly from training and stretch those healing muscle fibres properly. The other thing is to ease off the training a bit so that your body has enough time to recover and heal micro tears in the muscle. Stretch the muscle properly when it is warm, holding each stretch for 30sec or more to help lengthen out the muscle fibres. One of these things or all three can help prevent an injury. Happy Training.
