The Importance of Strings
The Importance of Stringing A decent string in your racket is like a decent set of tyres on your car- you can invest a lot of $ in a decent car, or frame, but without good tyres, or strings, it just doesnt work. This is more important when the weather has got cold. That is when you really need the added ping of a top string. It will give you an extra 10 or 20 percent of zoom off the racket. Also, if you go for a thinner string, the belief is that you get more feel of the ball, which I agree with. The tighter you string your frame the more control you get, but less power, and vice versa. When rackets were wooden, it was the other way around, as the frame bent as you hit the ball, and the strings gave more power the tighter they were strung. Nowdays the frames are stiff, and you need the rebound to come out of the strings, like a trampoline. If your strings are getting baggy, you will be losing control, and it is time to get a restring, as they will have stretched. But remember that the tighter it is, you are giving uo power for control. 26 pounds is a good mix of power and control, one or two pounds either side will add power or control, depending if you go looser or tighter.
