Vitamins

 

This week’s fitness tip is on vitamins. If you consume a healthy diet with a variety of fruit and vegetables you should be getting enough vitamins that your body requires. It is not a good idea to take vitamin supplements if your body does not need them. There are two types of vitamins - fat soluble and water soluble. Fat soluble vitamins are A, D, E, K. Remember your body can only store so much of each vitamin and excess can cause other health problems. So only use supplements if you have a deficiency. If you have too many water soluble vitamins your body will get rid of this excess amount in your urine. With fat soluble vitamins it is harder for your body to excrete these and this is why you can develop toxic levels. So try and eat a good variety of foods and do not take supplements unless you require it
