Long or Short Game?
Long or Short Game? Most of you will have been in the unenviable position of having to make the decision to call short or long at 8 all. We’ve all called long at some stage in our playing career, to then wish we’d been braver after we’ve won the next rally & are in hand for what could have been ‘Game Ball’. But hindsight is a wonderful thing! Have a go at calling short if you’re ahead in games, or at the start of the match. Psychologically your opponent will react in one of 2 ways, they’ll either get smug & think they’ve got the game in the bag & that you’ve blown it by taking the risk, or they’ll tense up & crack under the pressure – it’s great. Okay so the pressure is on you too, but it always was – you’re the one that has to win 2 points (or 3) in a row, but at least you’ve transferred some of that pressure to them. Obviously it’s a percentage thing, you’re not going to win every game, but at least you’ll feel good about the one’s you do! Happy Squashing - Dawn
